5 On-The-Go Essentials Ft. Revlon, Nivea & Maybelline

Does anyone else have those really long 12-hour days?  Do you have those jam-packed days where you have classes in the morning, work later in the afternoon then meeting with friends later that night? Well there’s nothing worse than reaching the sixth hour of the day only to find your face looking dull and tired. But the good news is that with make-up, you don’t have to look like you’ve had a long day. Here are the five essentials to keep you looking fresh and lively (without the need for brushes either!).

My handy little pouch to keep all my lifesavers together, got this a few ago…not sure where it’s from but isn’t it cute?!
  • Concealer: Whether your foundation comes in the form of a liquid, stick, cream, powder or cushion just leave it at home. It would be way too fussy to bring a foundation on the go. So I would recommend to bring a concealer instead. Rather than touching up on your entire face, just add a little bit of concealer where you need it. Personally I prefer to only touch up under my eyes and some scarring on the cheeks. Just by touching up here
and there, your face s going to look fresh and healthy in an instant.
  • Eyebrow Pencil: Sometimes I have some pretty bad brow days, and more often than not I would use my brow pencil to touch up the brows during the day if they’ve faded or look a bit splotchy. I find this to be more of an oily-skin issue so if you have drier skin you might not experience the splotchy brows. But the eyebrow pencil is a multi-tasking product in disguise. You can use the brow pencil along your nose a subtle contour, or smudge some in the out corner of the eyes to add some depth or lightly smudge along the lash line for even more depth to the eyes!

  • Eyeshadow: Now let’s say you fill in your brows with a powder instead of a pencil…no problem! Find a neutral eyeshadow quad or trio (not a quad but I highly recommend the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette) that has a brown toned shadow, a skin toned shadow and a highlighting shade. With the brown you can do a subtle contour on the nose and eyes, with the skin toned shade you can lightly powder small areas of the face just using your fingertips (patting lightly working on small areas little by little). And with the highlight shade you can use your fingers to highlight the brown bone, cupids bow and along the bridge of the nose. You really can’t go wrong with a handy neutral palette in the bag.
  • Eyeliner: Do I even need to explain? Instantly change your look from day to night with a thin line over the lash line and a wing to add some sassy-ness to whatever look you’ve got going on.

  • Lipstick: I am the kind of person who will drop whatever they’re doing and go buy a new lip balm and lipstick if I’ve forgotten them at home. I feel like a little bit of lipstick just adds this element of vitality and liveliness that just ties in the rest of your make-up really well. I’d recommend having at least two shades of lipstick: a natural “my lips but better” shade and a bright/dark bold colour to change up the look. Pick a colour that would also look nice on the cheeks for a matching lip n’ cheek flush. Lip-balm is also really great if your skin is feeling a bit dry and flaky. Just take some of the balm, rub it on your finger and apply it to where you feel you need a boost of moisture!
  • (OPTIONAL): This isn’t something I always bring around…I probably should but this is great if you have oily skin. Blotting sheets!! It feels gross if you were to just pile on some powder over the oils your skin produced during the day…it would make you break out too. Even if you have some facial tissues nearby it’s not a bad idea to blot before touching up.

If you’re in a pinch for time and you’re in for a long day, keep these essentials close by so you can be on fleek all day, everyday. Let me know what your on-the-go essentials are in the comments below. See you all next week! xx

  1. Brilliant article! I am also a huge fan of neutral eyeshadow palettes. They really are a lifesaver especially when there is a matte brown which you can use for your brows. I actually use a brown from a neutral palette when filling in my brows. A little bit of colour on the lips really is so transformative as well. 🙂 x
